1. Round Derwent Water - on road (10 miles, 750ft Climbing) or off road (9 Miles, 450ft Climbing)
A beautiful ride taking in the scenery around Derwent Water. Both Lodore Falls Hotel and Mary Mount Hotel offer a great spot for a bite to eat and a drink. The off road route (shown below) is suitable for a hybrid or mountain bike. The on road route is suitable for any bike style.
2. Thirlmere Loop - (22 Miles, 1,400ft Climbing)
Heading out over the hill to Thirlmere, a few miles on a main road but soon diverting off on to quiet country lanes. At the bottom of Thirlmere the route crosses the road and heads uphill on to an elevated forest track with fantastic views over Thirlmere and the surrounding hills. Returning to Keswick via the quiet lanes of St Johns in the Vale and the Keswick Railway path. The Horse and Farrier in Thelkeld is a good spot for food and drink. The route is best tackled on a hybrid or mountain bike.
3. Round Skiddaw - (32 Miles, 3,000ft of Climbing)
Heading out of Keswick on the Keswick Railway Path, up through Thelkeld and then on to the quite country lanes round the back of Skiddaw. Pitstops along the way at Hesket Market and Caldbeck. This route would best suit a road bike, but just also rideable on a hybrid or mountain bike.
4. Honister and Newlands - (21 miles, 2,500ft of Climbing)
This loop can be done either way round, the reward for the climbs up Newlands and Honister Passes is the most beautiful Buttermere valley with a fantastic farm shop/cafe and pub in Buttermere village for a bite to eat and a drink before tackling the climb home. This route would best suit a road bike, but just also rideable on a hybrid or mountain bike.
